Kyung Hee University’s Institute of International Education (IIE) is
one of the best Korean and foreign language schools in South Korea, dedicated to promoting internationalization and globalization.
The Institute of International Education began as the Kyung Hee University Audiovisual Education Institute in 1970.
In 1997, the Institute began to offer language and culture courses based on Kyung Hee’s goal to “create a cultural world,” and was reborn as the Institute of International Education that exists today.
Opening its doors in 1993, the Korean Language Department provides quality courses on Korean language and culture to 6,000 foreign students and overseas Koreans from over 100 countries.
We have also been offering Korean language and culture classes by partnering with key government agencies to invite international scholarship students and Chinese students majoring in Korean.
In addition, IIE is the first Korean education institution to initiate a “Korean Helpers” program, bridging the gap between different languages and cultures to enhance mutual cultural understanding.
We have also strived to provide venues where people from around the world can come together by hosting various Korean
language events, such as the World Korean Speech Contest for Foreigners and the Korean Fair for Foreigners.
With the aim of fostering global citizens, the Foreign Language Department currently offers various conversation courses in English, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, French, and German led by talented native instructors.
The English Level UP course, content-based courses, and the intensive Learn English and Practice (LEAP) course are all part of the
Institute’s specialized courses designed to provide quality foreign language education.
The Korean textbook Kyung Hee Korean was completed in March 2020 and consists of 19 different levels from “first steps” to advanced. The textbooks have a balanced curriculum consisting of grammar, listening and speaking, and reading and writing, all of which are critical elements for learning Korean.
The world is becoming increasingly multicultural, and communication between different cultures is more important than ever. Therefore, the Institute of International Education at Kyung Hee University will continue to provide quality education in language and culture.
