Korean Helpers play a valuable role as friends and teachers to foreign students studying Korean language and culture at Kyung Hee University IIE. Please remember that even though the role and personality of each Korean Helper is slightly different, they are valuable resources for foreign students to learn about Korean language and culture.
Korean Helper Activities
  • General Helpers / Study Helpers Help students with Regular courses, Intensive courses, other activities, and other courses, mostly Japanese classes
    • Help foreign students adjust to their new life at Kyung Hee and assist with various cultural activities
    • Spend 2 hours 1-on-1 with a foreign student every week at a coffee shop near campus or doing another activity (face-to-face)
    • Communicate through social media when possible (if not meeting face-to-face)
    • Help foreign students practice Korean speaking by having conversations in Korean
    • Help students with specific topics or related activities, such as discussions or surveys
  • Airport Helpers Pick up and drop off students at the airport upon request
    • from the Japan-Korea Friendship Association, Kyung Hee visa team, or homeroom teachers
  • Discussion Helpers Sister School and University Language Courses
    • Assist foreign students by engaging in casual conversations
    • Hold group discussion in the classroom 1–2 times per semester
