How many times do students meet with Korean Helpers?
IIE’s Korean Helpers Program recommends that partners meet up 1–2 times a week for at least 3 hours a week.
Please find the best time that works for the foreign student and the Korean Helper to meet at least once a week.
(There are no set rules for selecting the time as long as it works well for both partners. We recommend meeting on campus or somewhere near campus.)
Do you have to be fluent in a foreign language?
The program is designed to assist Kyung Hee University’s foreign students to learn about Korean language and culture.
Therefore, it is recommended to only use Korean. (This means you do not have to be fluent in a foreign language.)
However, if the foreign student is a beginner and limited in terms of expressing his or her ideas only in Korean, you can use the appropriate foreign language as a way to kickstart communication.
We still recommend that Korean usage during conversations is increased over time.
What is the selection and assignment process to become a Korean Helper?
1. To become a Korean Helper, you must first fill out the application form.

the orientation to submit another form before your name can be included on the “matching list.”
